Apart
from business, Iguana Mama keeps an strong involvement
with Local Community Development, specially in projects
aiming the improvement of education in rural areas
and the protection of the environment.
We are particularly proud of our support to DREAM
project (Dominican Republic Education and Mentoring
Project). This project was started in 1999 by Iguana
Mama Founder, Tricia Thorndike.
The DREAM Project is a 501c3 nonprofit organization
committed to improving needed educational opportunities
for children in rural areas and small communities
of the North Coast and North Slope of the Cordillera
Central in the Dominican Republic. DREAM provides
funds, supplies and arrange for volunteers to build
necessary support facilities such as libraries, additional
classrooms, and toilets. DREAM also places volunteers
in schools and libraries to teach reading, writing,
math and English skills to children born into poverty.
Iguana Mama is founding partner of DREAM and continues
supporting this project.
Iguana Mama is happy to disperse all donations, clothes,
books, food to different schools to DREAM Project.
