"Pasionate, Educational, Remarkable...The Times Newspaper"

We are particularly proud of our staff. We mainly employ Dominican guides. Who better to show you the way of the local people than the local people themselves?

All our guides are trained in first aid and CPR. Working at Iguana Mama they have had the chance to travel all over their own country and many have traveled internationally. They know the names of all the plants and trees because they have grown up in the countryside amongst them.

What makes our staff stand out is that they are fun. They are the kind of people you want to meet and spend time with. getting to know them will be one of the highlights of your Dominican experience.

Meet our team before your arrival in the Dominican Republic:

Máximo Martínez (Max), Guide

For Máximo mountain biking is his life. He has been working for Iguana Mama for 7 years and is the right person for technical rides like Rocky MF and Max Endurance, the most challenging of our 1-day rides. He knows everything about bike mechanics. Max loves talking about mountain biking and jazz, his other passion, and he is always ready to design and to show you new routes in the area.

Orlando Virgilio, Guide

Orlando Virgilio, also known as Cacale, is a real athlete and all round sportsman. Apart from mountain biking and hiking, Orlando loves surfing, windsurfing, road biking and many other sports. Besides very good English, Orlando also speaks some German.

Mike Braden, Guide

Mike is from Canada and has been developing and guiding bike trips for Iguana Mama since 1995. His specialty is bike tours but he leads hikes as well as cultural trips. He developed the 9 Day Dominican Alps trip as well as the 12 day coast to coast biketrip. He was asked by National Geographic Television to take part in documentaries that were filmed in the Cordillera Central mountains. Mike spends the summers running his lakeside Bed and Breakfast in Muskoka, Canada where he has guests from all over the world. With his easy going nature and abundance of patience he will do his utmost to ensure that you get the most out of your trip.

Adolfo Ramirez, Guide

Like Orlando, Adolfo can practice nearly any sport. Always ready for a real adventure, Adolfo loves the challenges as Multi-Day Biking Tours and climbing Pico Duarte. Also one of the first Iguanas.

Yunior Radhamez, Guide

Yunior is the right guide to teach you about the Dominican Nature and Culture. With Yunior you will learn about all this country has to offer and discover the Dominican way of living. Be ready for a really good time that you will never forget.

Anthony Polanco, Mechanic and Guide

Anthony is the person that makes sure that your bikes are in perfect condition. He loves hiking to National Park El Choco and Mount Isabel de Torres. He looks very shy, but very soon you will discover that he has the typical Dominican sense of humor.

Carlos Río, Mechanic and Guide

The lastest guide to join Iguana Mama. Carlos is charming and helpful. He constantly shows his capability to make our guests at home and their tours un unforgettable experience. Always aware of what you may need, Carlos loves challenging rides and improving his English with you.
